"Challenge of Brothers Overcoming the Earthquake"

 

 

Founded in 1871 in Natori, Miyagi Prefecture.

 

Natori is a town located by the sea in the southern part of Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture.

Specialty products of this city are red clams and whitebait caught at Yuriage Port of Natori, and “Seri” (Japanese parsley) which cannot grow without clean water.

 

Sasaki Sake Brewery was born in the seaside of this beautiful town.

They have over 150 years history and has long been loved by many people in the town.

 

However, the town was severely damaged by the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011.

Sasaki Sake Brewery, which faces the coast, was also completely destroyed by the tsunami.

 

At that time, Hiroshi Sasaki, who is the fifth generation of Sasaki Brewery, climbed to the roof of his office and survived the tsunami.

Hiroshi said that during the scene of despair where the brewery and the town were all collapse away, he had a strong conviction to revive the sake brewery again in this area.

And his younger brother, Junpei made a decision to cooperate with him.

 

Two young brother’s great challenge has begun.

 

Their determination was supported by many brewers from all over Japan by soon. Many equipment necessary for sake brewing were distributed from all over Japan. Surprisingly, the year after the earthquake, they performed the great starting sake brewing in a temporary warehouse.

It was also a moment that cheered up Natori, where was greatly damaged by the earthquake.

In October 2019, they finally rebuilt their brewery on the same location in Yuriage, Natori. That is the time that Sasaki Sake Brewery has started the second sake brewing story.

Although the producing volume is not big yet, the design and equipment of the brewery have been well thought out by them.

Sake made in the new brewery has a wonderful aroma and taste, and the taste evolves year by year.

Sake made by passionate brothers who have overcome the biggest setback.

「震災を乗り越えた熱き兄弟の挑戦」

 

宮城県名取市に、1871年に創業。

 

名取市は、宮城県仙台市南部の海沿いに位置する町。

特産品は閖上港で捕れる赤貝・しらす。綺麗な水でなければ生育できないセリ。

海沿いの町で、2011年の東日本大震災で津波による大きなダメージを受けた。

 

佐々木酒造は150年続く名取市の酒蔵として、長く地域に愛される老舗。

しかし、2011311日に発生した東日本大震災で津波により本社店舗・酒蔵が全壊。

 

蔵も、事務所も、町も、すべてが流される絶望の状態の中、

佐々木洋・佐々木淳平は、名取を再び復活させるという強い信念の元、

酒造りを続けることを決意。

 

当その決意に、日本全国の多くの醸造関係者から多くの協力があった。

酒造りに必要な機材も全国各地から分けてもらい、

震災翌年に仮設蔵で日本酒造りを開始する偉業を行う。

 

そして2019年10月、ついに再び閖上の同じ場所に、酒蔵を再建築。

佐々木酒造、第二の酒造り物語をスタートさせた。

 

酒蔵の規模は小さいが、その分丁寧な酒造りを心掛けている。

新設蔵で造られるお酒は、香り、味とも素晴らしく、年々味が進化している。

 

津波で全壊するという最大の逆行を乗り越えてきた熱き兄弟が心を込めて造る酒、

絶対に飲むべき一本である。
